Heart Crusher Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Michael Rubenstein ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses and shares information when you use the Heart Crusher mobile game (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to this policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the App.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information. When you sign in with Apple, Google or email, we receive a unique account ID and, depending on the sign-in method, your email address and name. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose "Hide My Email," we receive only a private relay address. If you play as a Guest, we create an anonymous account ID with no email or name.
- Display name. The name you choose to show to other players.
- Password. If you use email sign-in, your password is handled by Google Firebase Authentication. We never see or store it.
Information created when you play
- Game data. Room codes, the players in a room, the cards dealt and traded, sets laid down, scores and game results, needed to run a game between devices.
- Quick chat and emoji reactions. The App offers pre-written chat phrases and emoji reactions only. These are shared with the other players in your game.
- Stats. Your wins, losses, streaks, scores, average finish and a list of your recent games, saved to your account.
- Connection status. Whether you are currently connected to a game, so other players (and the game's bots) know when you drop out or come back.
Information stored only on your device
Settings such as sound, vibration, hints, four-color deck, card sorting, practice options and whether you've finished the tutorial are saved on your device and are not sent to us. Offline practice stats (when you play without an account) also stay on your device.
Game Center
If you're signed in to Apple Game Center, the App sends your achievements and leaderboard scores to Apple. Game Center is operated by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not receive your Game Center contacts.
What we don't collect
We don't collect your location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera data, advertising identifiers, or browsing history. The App contains no third-party advertising or analytics tools and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
2. How we use information
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To run multiplayer games: connecting players to rooms, dealing cards, processing trades, keeping score and letting a bot fill in when someone disconnects.
- To show your display name, chat phrases and reactions to the other players in your game.
- To save and display your stats, recent games, achievements and leaderboard scores.
- To respond to your questions and requests, and to keep the App safe, prevent cheating and fix problems.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
3. How information is shared
- With other players. People in your game room can see your display name, your seat, how many cards you hold, your laid-down sets, your score, your chat phrases and reactions, and your connection status. Your actual cards in hand stay private to you while a round is in progress. At the end of a round, everyone's hands and sets are revealed for scoring.
- With service providers that run the App on our behalf:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Realtime Database and Hosting), which stores account and game data. See Firebase Privacy and Security.
- Google Sign-In, if you choose to sign in with Google. See the Google Privacy Policy.
- Apple, for Sign in with Apple and Game Center. See the Apple Privacy Policy.
- For legal reasons. We may share information if required by law, or if necessary to protect the rights, safety or security of our players, ourselves or others.
- If the App changes hands. If the App is transferred to a new owner, your information may be transferred as part of that, subject to this policy.
4. How long we keep information
- Account, profile and stats. Kept until you delete your account, or reset your stats, which clears your stats.
- Game rooms. Room data, including room code, players, game state and chat, is temporary. It's used to run that game and is automatically deleted about 24 hours after the game stops being active.
- Guest accounts. If you sign out of a Guest account or delete the App, you may not be able to get back into that Guest account.
5. Your choices and rights
- Delete your account: In the App, go to Settings โ Delete Account. This deletes your sign-in account, profile and stats from our database. You can also email us to request deletion.
- Reset stats: My Stats โ Reset Stats erases your stats without deleting your account.
- Change your display name at any time in Settings.
- Game Center: you can sign out of Game Center or manage its settings in your device's Settings app.
- Sign in with Apple: you can stop using Sign in with Apple for the App in your Apple ID settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information, or to object to certain uses of it. To make a request, email us at the address below. We'll respond within the time required by applicable law, and we won't discriminate against you for exercising your rights. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
6. Children's privacy
Heart Crusher is a general-audience game that's suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without a parent's consent. A few design choices help keep younger players safe:
- Players can play as a Guest or offline in Practice mode without giving an email address or real name.
- There is no free-text chat. Players can only send pre-written phrases and emoji, so there's no way to share personal details through chat.
- Display names are automatically checked for offensive words.
- Players can report or block anyone from their avatar during a game.
- There are no ads, no in-app purchases and no links to social media.
Children under 13 should ask a parent or guardian before creating an account with an email address. If you're a parent and believe your child has given us personal information without your consent, email us and we will delete it.
7. Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections and stored with Google Firebase. Database security rules limit who can read each piece of game data; for example, only you (and the device running the game) can read your hand. No system is perfectly secure, though, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
8. Where data is stored
Our service providers may store and process information in the United States and other countries. Data protection laws there may differ from those where you live. By using the App, you understand your information may be transferred to those countries.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the App. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the updated policy.
